I have a fiberglass hull and want to paint the inside before I lay down carpet. Can I use any kind of paint? Or must it be fiberglass paint also?

SuziQs,
Any marine epoxy or polyeurathane based paint should do the trick. Some people may disagree, but I believe the marine grade paints tend to hold up better to weather and moisture than what your local hardware store carries.

SuziQs,

I have a question before we can answer your question. Are you planning on painting the floor prior to putting down carpet to seal the floor or are you painting the inside of the hull?

We would not recommend using the marine paint to seal a floor prior to carpeting there are better products for sealing.

As far as marine paint you don't have to use a marine paint but there are advantages. Most of the marine paints we sell are a singular polyurethane making it very easy to work with. There is no mixing, they have a high UV rating very easy to apply and flow out very well. I think you will be very happy with the longevity and durability of the paint.

Please let us know if you have any more questions

Thank you,
