    Evinrude Boat motor pitch question

I have a 16 ft older aluminum duracraft boat with a flat bottom. It used to have a 35 horse evinrude on it and I could get it up to approximately 20-22 MPH going across the lake. I go to Dogtooth Lake in Canada every year on a fishing trip and the lake is extremely large and takes time to get from point A to point B. So I decided to get a larger motor and I upgraded to a 65 horse Evinrude. I was only able to get it out once but at that time I only increased speed to 25-27 MPH. I really expected to at least get into the lower 30 MPH. My thoughts are that I possibly need a different pitch prop. Can anyone recommend the best prop for this boat that will give me the most top end speed. I only use it for fishing. I do not tow skiers or tubers. thank you for your time.

    Klaas,
Your RPM's at wide open throttle should be between 5,200 and 5,800. We really need to know what RPM's you are turning at WOT and what current pitch you are running before we can suggest a different prop!
    Thanks,
