    Changing the Tires

i just bought a 1991 Bayliner Ciera 2655 it is an Alpha Drive with the 5.7 L its on the trailer in the driveway needing some minor work. It has not been used in about a year and a half and the tires are showing signs of dry rot is it possible / smart to try to change those with the boat still on the trailer? The only reason I ask is right now Im a student straped for money with nothing that can handle pulling it but would like to change the tires.

    Smile Trailer tires -

Go get you some used tires, no tread but a recent date code (less than five years and no dry rot). You just want to avoid a blow out. I had one blow on 285 in Atlanta at rush hour - got lucky - truck stop at the top of the ramp - but could have turned the whole rig over!

When you hit the lottery - then get some better tires if you are going to keep to boat on the trailer.

By the way - haven't you heard the definition of a boat - hole in the water you pour money into - and you're a STUDENT!

Just jack the trailer up, remove the wheels/tires and go to big tire store for trailer tires. They truly are not very expensive and should be good for 5 years or more. You can do one at a time in money is an issue, just try to stick with the same brand, size etc
