I just bought a wellcraft cruiser and wanted to start and run the 260 mercruiser v-8 and check to see about an alleged "clunck" in the bravo 1 outdrive according to the dealer from which I bought the craft. I put the dog ears on the outdrive, turned on the water and started the engine. I ran the engine for about 5 minutes-long enough to shift in and out of gear and long enough, I thought , to warm up the engine to operating temp. After shut down I opened the drain on both sides of the engine block and heads only to find there was no water coming out-only anti-freeze from the previous winterization. (boat has not been in water for at least a year.) I could not lay my hand on the exhaust manifold very long-too hot. My question is have I warped the cylinder heads possibly and also why wasnt there any water reaching the engine? Thanks for any help you can give me and for reading my message.
