Mercury - Fuel

With the way gasolines are refined now, they can go bad in relatively short amount of time. For engines that have carburetors, this will cause gumming and shellacking inside the carburetor. Because of this, having to rebuild you carburetor more frequently is becoming the norm. To help minimize this, fuel stabilizer should be added every time gas is added to the tank. At the same time changing your fuel filter should be changed every 100 hrs of use or annually. Fuel lines are another area that often get forgotten about. The suns UV rays will damage fuel lines and primer bulbs over time causing cracks and the lines to get brittle. Replace your fuel lines at the first sign of cracking.
