How To Apply
APPLICATION DATA METHOD: Brush
NUMBER OF COATS: As required for end color result.
DRY FILM THICKNESS PER COAT: 2 mils (3.6 wet mils)
APPLICATION TEMP: 50°F Min. / 95°F Max.
THINNER: Brushing Liquid 333
BARE WOOD: Sand with 80 grade (grit) paper. Sand smooth. Sanding with too fine a sanding paper will not allow Interstain* to penetrate into the wood. Ensure bare wood is clean and dry. If bleaching is required, be sure to neutralize the surface prior to application of any paint product.
APPLICATION INFORMATION: Brush the reduced Interstain* on bare wood along the grain. Wipe across the grain to remove excess material. Continue wiping until the grain of the wood is not streaky or smudgy looking. The wiping cloth can be any clean piece of material such as old cotton cloth, burlap, cheesecloth, etc. 3 or more coats of varnish should be applied over Interstain* following directions on the varnish label. Allow to dry for at least 4 hours, then lightly sand to remove fuzz condition caused by the grain swelling. Interstain* is a thick paste before using. It must be mixed with Brushing Liquid 333 to the consistency of thick house paint. r Use a cloth moistened with Brushing Liquid 333 to even out any streaking. If Interstain* is not thoroughly dry before overcoating with varnish, the filler will "lift" from the grain and the stain will be apparent on the varnish brush. Product temperature should be minimum 10°C/50°F and maximum 29°C/85°F. Ambient temperature should be minimum 10°C/50°F and maximum 35°C/95°F. Substrate temperature should be minimum 10°C/50°F and maximum 29°C/85°F. Apply to clean, dry, properly prepared surfaces only. Do not overcoat directly with unthinned epoxy resin.
