Barely bright enough to illuminate one stair tread

The description honestly states this is a "courtesy light used for low-level general illumination." But I didn't know how dim "low-level" can be. Imagine a flashlight that has just about exhausted its battery. That's how dim this light is. Mounting and wire connection were straightforward. Product was a disappointment.
