Dock Lines
Did you know? Most marine cordage is either for general or specialized use. General rule is that the less play in the line, meaning the line with the least amount of stretch, is best. At Wholesale Marine you’ll find solutions for all your dock rope and anchor line requirements, just when you need’em. We've got nylon and poly anchor line, braided dock line, snubbers and snubber line, and accessories like line winders and anchor hooks from brands you trust, including Taylor Made, Garelick, Kwik Tek, Davis Instruments, and more! If you are not sure what kind of line you’ll need, just speak with one of our representatives. We’re boaters, too and look forward to assisting you to make the right selection!
Have you been buying the thickest rope that will fit your cleats? It will not wear as long. Here are some recommendations to help you decide:
Boats up to 25-feet: Require ⅜” line
Boats up to 35-feet: Require ½” line
Boats up to 45-feet: Require ⅝” line
Boats up to 55-feet: ¾” line
Boats up to 65-feet: ⅞” line
Nylon, Polypropylene, Braided, Stranded- Which is Best and Why?
Double braid nylon, also known as braid on braid or yacht braid, is actually two braided ropes combined into one rope. A braided core is covered with a braided jacket to produce a strong easy to handle rope. This rope is splice-able and very strong. Nylon double braid is the preferred choice for applications requiring high strength with excellent shock absorbing properties. Nylon double braid has good resistance to abrasion sunlight and chemicals. Due to its high elongation, nylon is almost always used in applications involving shock loading such as anchor lines and mooring lines.
