Pettit's Black Widow Bottom Paint is the slickest, fastest, ultra-smooth, burnishable racing finish available. Its powerful dual biocides provide high-performance, multi-season protection in all waters. Black Widow also contains four strong slickening agents including Molybdenum Disulfide, PTFE, Graphite, and Silicon, making it the fastest racing paint available. Refer to the chart below to calculate how much Black Widow paint you will need for your boat.
Example: If your boat has a length of 28', and a beam of 8.5', you will multiply 28 x 8.5 x .85 to get your total square footage. The total square footage for this boat is 202.3 square feet. A gallon of Black Widow has a coverage of 440 square feet per gallon for one coat, so one gallon will be enough for two coats.
Pettit Black Widow Bottom Paint is easily applied by brush, roller, or spray. When rolling, only use a high-quality short nap (3/16" maximum) roller cover. Mix paint thoroughly prior to application to ensure ingredients are evenly dispersed throughout the can. All surfaces must be clean, dry, and properly prepared prior to painting. Do not apply Black Widow directly on aluminum hulls or outdrives without properly priming first. When spraying, do not thin Black Widow more that 5% or inadequate film thickness will occur.
Burnishing of Black Widow to create a slicker finish can be done with 400 - 1200 grit wet or dry sandpaper after the coating has dried for at least 48 hours to achieve a smooth but matte finish. For a glossy finish, sand with 3000-5000 grit sandpaper. If burnishing, a third or fourth coat of Black Widow is recommended depending on application method.
