Camco 65505 Do-It-Yourself Sterndrive Boat Winterizer Kit

The Camco 65505 Sterndrive Boat Winterizer provides a convenient way to flush and winterize a marine engine's raw-water cooling system. Its dual-valve adapter lets you warm and flush the engine with fresh water before switching the cooling-system supply to marine antifreeze.

Allowing the engine to reach operating temperature opens the thermostat so antifreeze can circulate through the engine block and raw-water cooling passages. According to Camco, thermostat removal is unnecessary when the included winterization procedure is followed correctly.

How It Works

Connect a fresh-water supply to the winterization valve, then connect the valve output to a garden hose and compatible engine flusher. Install the flusher over the water intake on the outdrive and run the engine at idle until it reaches operating temperature. The valves are then used to close the fresh-water supply while opening the antifreeze supply, directing antifreeze into the raw-water cooling system.

What You Will Need

• Propylene-glycol marine engine winterizing antifreeze with burst protection of at least -50°F
• Fresh-water supply
• Garden hose
• Compatible engine flusher

Engine flusher is not included.

Recommended Motor Flusher

For compatible outdrives with side water intakes, we recommend the Moeller 099076-00 Universal Motor Flusher. Confirm that the flusher fits securely over all cooling-water intake openings before operating the engine.

Important Usage Information

• Read the Camco instructions and engine manufacturer's winterization procedure before beginning
• Position the filled antifreeze container above the engine intake and winterization adapter
• Allow antifreeze to reach room temperature before use for improved flow
• Operate the engine at idle during the flushing and winterization process
• Shut down the engine immediately when the antifreeze container is empty
• Flush the winterizer components with fresh water and allow them to dry before storage
