Add to CartThe UFP DX7.5L A60 Disc Brake Surge Actuator delivers reliable hydraulic braking for tandem axle trailers up to 7,500 pounds. This zinc-plated actuator features an aluminum master cylinder and uses a surge mechanism that automatically synchronizes with your tow vehicle's braking system. When the trailer pushes forward during braking, the actuator telescopes and applies pressure to the master cylinder, creating the hydraulic force needed for effective stopping power. Designed for 2-inch hitch balls, it includes an integrated reverse solenoid and offers multiple mounting configurations for straightforward installation on tandem axle applications.
Product Features:
When you brake, the trailer's momentum pushes it forward toward the tow vehicle — that "surge" telescopes the actuator inward, which presses the master cylinder and sends hydraulic pressure to the trailer's disc brakes. The harder the tow vehicle brakes, the more the trailer surges forward and the more braking force is applied. No electrical connection to the tow vehicle is required.
This actuator is rated for tandem axle trailers up to 7,500 lbs. To confirm fit, check your trailer's Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) on the VIN plate. If it's at or under 7,500 lbs and you have a tandem axle setup with disc brakes, this is the correct model. For single-axle applications, the companion DX7.5L A60 Single Axle version (replaces UFP 47550) is the appropriate choice instead.
This Dexter actuator directly replaces UFP model 34044. UFP was acquired by Dexter Axle, and the DX7.5L A60 is the current production equivalent. The part number on the Wholesale Marine listing is 099-060-20.
The DX7.5L A60 is for 2-inch hitch balls, the standard size on most boat trailer applications at this weight rating. It includes an integrated reverse solenoid, which disengages the surge mechanism when backing up so the brakes don't drag when you're reversing down the boat ramp.
The aluminum master cylinder keeps weight down compared to cast iron alternatives and resists corrosion well when properly maintained. The actuator body is also zinc-plated for corrosion resistance. For best longevity in saltwater environments, rinse the actuator with fresh water after each launch and retrieve cycle and inspect the master cylinder periodically for pitting or seal wear.
The A60 is a standard inner-member actuator that bolts to your existing coupler housing. The A75 Drop-N-Go is designed for quick removal. The inner member slides out of the outer housing without tools, allowing you to easily swap the braking assembly between trailers or remove it for service. If your trailer uses the A60-style outer housing (UFP 34044 replacement), this is the correct inner member.
