Pettit ECO Hybrid Reactive Technology (HRT) Antifouling Paint Aerosol

Pettit ECO HRT 1800 Aerosol is designed as an antifouling coating that protects against algae, slime, barnacles and other marine fouling organisms. Pettit ECO HRT's smooth durable paint surface is designed to wear away over time thereby eliminating paint build up as well as the need for sanding. Pettit ECO HRT Copper-Free Bottom Paint is safe for use on any aluminum-hulled boat.  This copper-free bottom paint provides excellent antifouling protection; hauling and relaunching won't reduce its effectiveness. Able to be used in fresh, salt or brackish water on underwater metal parts.

Application Instructions

Shake the can vigorously for at least one minute after mixing ball begins to rattle. Shake can often during use. Hold can 10-12 inches from the surface. Depress the nozzle and spray with smooth even strokes. When finished spraying you clear the spray valve by flipping the can upside down and spraying till no more paint comes out.

Clean up with Pettit 120 Brushing Thinner.

Dry Times:Dry to touch in 30 minutes. The minimum recoat times is 6 hours. Minimum dry time between final coat and launching is 16 hours. Under damp or cold conditions increase dry times by 50%. There is no maximum time before launching.

Coverage: one can covers approximately 15 square feet

New Outdrive Unit

  1. Lightly sand the factory paint with 80 grit sandpaper to dull the surfce
  2. Clean with Pettit 120 Brushing Thinner
  3. Apply 2 coats of Pettit HRT ECO Aerosol Antifouling Paint allowing a minimum of 6 hours @70° F or 12 hours @50° F drying time between coats

Outdrives Previously Painted with Antifouling Paint

  1. Lightly sand the old antifouling paint
  2. Clean with Pettit 120 Brushing Thinner
  3. Apply one coat of Pettit 6627 Tie-Coat Primer and allow at least 4 hours dry time
  4. Apply 2 coats of Pettit HRT ECO Aerosol Antifouling paint allowing a minimum of 6 hours dry time

*If the old paint has been chipped to bare metal the entire surface must be primed*

Bare Aluminum Outdrives and Outboards

  1. The surface should be properly sandblasted or cleaned to bright metal
  2. Apply 2 coats of Pettit Aluma Protect Aluminum Epoxy Primer 4400/4401
  3. Apply 2 coats of Pettit Protect High Build Epoxy Primer 4700/4701
  4. Apply 2 coats of Pettit HRT ECO Aerosol Antifouling Paint
