Frequently Asked Questions

What is Interlux Watertite 2-Part Epoxy Marine Filler Compound used for?

Interlux Watertite 2-Part Epoxy Marine Filler Compound is a quick-drying, water-resistant epoxy filler for repairing fiberglass, metals, epoxy, and rigid wood constructions. It can be used above or below the waterline and is suitable for filling small nicks and scratches as well as osmosis damage repairs.

How do I mix Interlux Watertite Epoxy Marine Filler?

Mix the two components in a precise 1:1 ratio by volume. Thoroughly combine both components until the mixture reaches an even color. Watertite should not be thinned, and the product should not be applied below 45°F.

How thick can Interlux Watertite be applied?

Interlux Watertite can be applied up to 3/4 inch thick at one time without sagging. Apply it with a trowel, spatula, or putty knife to clean, dry, properly prepared surfaces. Do not exceed the 3/4-inch maximum application thickness in a single application.

Can Interlux Watertite be used above and below the waterline?

Yes. Interlux Watertite is formulated for use both above and below the waterline. Surface preparation and priming requirements vary by substrate. For example, bare fiberglass should be cleaned and sanded, while metal requires the specified primer system before or after application depending on whether it is above or below the waterline.

When can Interlux Watertite be sanded after application?

Sandable time depends on temperature. At 95°F, Watertite is sandable after approximately 3 hours; at 73°F, after 5 hours; and at 50°F, after 8 hours. After curing, wash the surface with fresh water and sand with 80-grit paper before proceeding with the appropriate overcoat system.
