Pettit Odyssey 60 Multi-Season Ablative Boat Bottom Paint

Pettit Odyssey 60 is a high-copper, multi-season ablative bottom paint. This ablative paint delivers exceptional multi-season performance against fouling by offering the highest copper content available in an ablative paint. With significantly more copper than competitors, Odyssey 60 offers stronger protection at a better value. It provides protection in all water types and is compatible over most bottom paints.

Pettit Odyssey 60 features fast dry technology, providing quick turnaround and increased production for all applicators. Unique controlled erosion technology minimizes coating build-up while keeping underwater surfaces smooth. Its ablative surface wears away with use, providing a continuous supply of fresh biocides while eliminating the need for sanding. Odyssey 60 can be hauled and re-launched without repainting.

How Much Pettit Odyssey 60 Do I Need for My Boat?

Refer to the chart below to calculate how much Odyssey 60 paint you will need for your boat.

Pettit Odyssey 60 Application Chart

    1. Calculate the square footage of the hull to be painted - multiply the length of the hull by the beam then multiply that total by .85
    2. Divide that number (your square foot total) by the amount of coverage Odyssey 60 provides. (440 square foot per gallon). This will give you a one-coat total.

Example: If your boat has a length of 28', and a beam of 8.5', you will multiply 28 x 8.5 x .85 to get your total square footage. The total square footage for this boat is 202.3 square feet. A gallon of Odyssey 60 has a coverage of 440 square feet per gallon for one coat, so one gallon will be enough for two coats.

How to Apply Pettit Odyssey 60 Bottom Paint

Odyssey 60 is heavily loaded with cuprous oxide. As a result, there is a tendency for settling to occur, especially if the paint has been on the shelf for several months. It is necessary to thoroughly mix the paint before using. If possible, shake the can of paint on a mechanical paint shaker. Before using, check the sides and bottom of the can to make sure all the pigment has been mixed in. Adhere to all application instructions, precautions, conditions, and limitations to obtain optimum performance.

When spraying, do not thin Odyssey 60 more than 10% (12 ounces per gallon) or inadequate paint film thickness will occur. When applying by roller, use a short nap (3/8" maximum) roller cover.

  • Application Methods: Brush, roller, airless or conventional spray
  • Number of Coats: 2 minimum
  • Dry Film Thickness: 2 mils (3.6 wet mils)
  • Coverage: 440 sq. ft/gal.
  • Application Temp: 50°F Min. / 90°F Max.
  • Thinner: 120 Brushing Thinner
