Interlux Micron Extra Bottom Paint with Biolux Anti-Slime
Micron Extra utilizes the power of slime blocking 'Biolux' and controlled co-polymer anti-fouling technology to achieve comprehensive protection against shell, weed, and slime fouling. Micron Extra’s anti-fouling ingredients are chemically bonded into Micron Extra’s co-polymer matrix- engineered to gradually wear away as the boat moves through the water – much like a bar of soap. The polishing process results in constant, slow delivery of Biocides from a freshly exposed paint film surface and assures your boats consistent, long-lasting performance, and maximum efficiency. Micron Extra Paint retains its anti-fouling efficiency when hauled and can be re-launched without having to repaint. The longevity of Micron Extra is directly related to the amount of paint applied. Micron Technology vs old fashioned hard antifoulings
After many years of using old fashioned hard high copper bottom paints, the paint film continues to build up, become brittle, and starts to crack and flake off. Micron Technology antifoulings polish at a controlled rate and therefore will never build up. It is this controlled polishing that enables Micron to be used on all boats, in all waters, and at all times! No paint build up means that you will never have to remove old layers of Micron and spend precious hours or money each time you want to repaint.
Micron Technology and fuel savings
There's another added benefit to controlled polishing: fuel savings! The roughness caused by old fashioned hard high copper bottom paints creates extra drag on boat bottoms requiring the use of more horsepower. With extra horsepower comes extra fuel consumption, extra fuel consumption means more money at the fuel pump. There is only one way to ensure that the bottom is smooth and that is to choose Micron Technology. Micron Technology antifouling polishes at a controlled rate leaving your bottom smooth - remember the smoother the bottom paint, the lower the resistance; the lower the surface resistance the better the fuel economy.

How to Apply
Applying Micron Extra Bottom Paint
APPLICATION DATA METHOD: Airless Spray, Brush, Roller, Conventional Spray (Pressure Pot)
NUMBER OF COATS: 2-3 minimum
DRY FILM THICKNESS PER COAT: 2 mils (3.6 wet mils)
COVERAGE: 440 sq. ft/gal.
APPLICATION TEMP: 50° F. Min. / 95°F. Max.
THINNER: Special Thinner 216

PREVIOUSLY PAINTED SURFACES: In Good Condition Remove loose paint by sanding with 80 grade (grit) paper, wipe with Special Thinner 216. In Poor Condition Remove antifouling paint in poor condition with Interstrip Semi-Paste 299E.
BARE FIBERGLASS: Begin by scrubbing well using soap and water and a stiff brush. Rinse with fresh water and allow to dry. Wipe a small area with a clean rag that has been wetted with Fiberglass Solvent Wash 202. While the surface is still wet, wipe with a clean, dry rag. Continue this process until the entire surface has been cleaned. Sand with 80 grade (grit) paper. Remove sanding residue. Wipe with Fiberglass Solvent Wash 202. If primer is needed, sand and apply Primocon YPA984.
BARE WOOD: Sand with 80 grade (grit) paper. Wipe with Brush-Ease 433. Apply first coat reduced 10% with Special Thinner 216. Fill seams, if necessary, with Seam Compound Brown 30.

DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT ON ALUMINUM HULLS AND OUTDRIVES.
APPLICATION INFORMATION: At least 2 coats should be applied. Apply an extra stripe coat in areas of high wear such as chines, rudders, sterngear and any leading edges. Cleaner Painted Surfaces - Special Thinner 216. Bare Fiberglass - Fiberglass Solvent Wash 202. Bare Wood - BrushEase 433. Airless Spray Pressure: 170-204 bar/2500-3000 psi. Tip Size: 0.53 mm/21 thou. Conventional Spray Pressure Pot: Pressure: 3.44-4.47 bar/50-65 psi (gun pressure); 10-15 psi (pot pressure). Tip Size: 1.8-2.2 mm/70-85 thou. Other Spraying of antifouling paints is prohibited in Canada. For application of Micron Extra with Biolux to underwater metals such as stainless steel, cast iron, lead and bronze, see Interprotect® bulletin. Color will change on immersion, this will not affect antifouling performance. Some Important Points Colors may fade or change color at the waterline. Shark White may turn green above the true waterline. Product temperature should be minimum 10°C/50°F and maximum 29°C/85°F. Ambient temperature should be minimum 10°C/50°F. Surface must be dry and clean, and free from grease, detaching paint etc. Micron Extra with Biolux can be applied to most popular antifouling paints as long as the old coating has been aged, is tightly adhered and is in sound condition. Do not apply Micron Extra with Biolux over aluminum. Do not apply over tin-based copolymer antifouling paints.
