If a high gloss finish is desired, Cetol Marine Gloss can be applied after the initial application of three coats of Cetol Marine, Marine Light, or Cetol Marine Natural Teak. If a brilliant high gloss finish is desired, lightly sand between coats of Cetol Marine Gloss using 220-320 grit sandpaper. In this case, Sikkens recommends the application of a third coat of Cetol Marine Gloss to compensate for the reduced layer thickness .Apply all coats within 1-2 weeks.

Can Interlux Sikkens Cetol Marine Gloss be used directly on bare wood?
No. Cetol Marine Gloss is a topcoat and must be applied over a minimum of two coats of Cetol Marine, Cetol Marine Light, or Cetol Marine Natural Teak. Cetol products should only be used above the waterline and should not be applied to decks.

What are the application temperature and drying requirements for Cetol Marine Gloss?
Apply Cetol Marine Gloss between 50°F and 95°F without thinning. The wood moisture content should be below 18% before application. Allow 24 hours between coats, and apply all coats within 1-2 weeks. At 73°F, the finish is touch dry in approximately 4 hours and hard dry in approximately 24 hours.
