    Interlux's Micron Extra offers superb, long-lasting protection against all types of fouling. Its formula has a controlled polishing rate and includes Biolux to control slime. This ablative antifouling paint is suitable for use in sea water, fresh water, and brackish water. This multi-season paint allows you to haul and relaunch without repainting, getting you back out onto the water faster!

    Micron Extra features controlled polishing, meaning it will get smoother with time, maximizing fuel efficiency. This bottom paint is available in seven colors and dries with a matte finsih. It is recommended that you apply 2-3 coats, and can be applied via brush, roller, and spray.

    How to Apply Interlux Micron Extra Ablative Antifouling Paint


    • Previously Painted Surfaces
      • In Good Condition: Remove loose paint by sanding with 80 grade paper. Remove sanding residue.
      • In Poor Condition: Remove antifouling paint in poor condition with Interstrip Semi-Paste 299E.
    • Bare Fiberglass
      • It is very important that bare fiberglass be properly prepared to prevent delamination of the antifouling paint. Begin by scrubbing the surface thoroughly with a stiff brush using soap and water to remove loose dirt and contamination.
      • Flush with fresh water to remove the soap residue and allow to dry. Remove mold release wax using one of the following Interlux products: Fiberglass Surface Prep or Fiberglass Solvent Wash 202.
      • Fill any surface imperfections with Interlux Watertite following the label instructions. After the surface has been properly cleaned, follow one of the application systems below.
    • Fiberglass No Sand System
      • Clean the surface following the preparation procedure above. Apply one coat of InterProtect 2000E or Fiberglass No-Sand Primer following the label instructions for applying the primer and overcoating with antifouling paint.
    • Fiberglass Sanding System
      • Clean the surface following the preparation procedure above. Sand entire surface well with 80 grade paper until flat matte finish is obtained. Remove sanding residue.
    • Blister Prevention System
      • Apply the InterProtect system for the prevention of blisters.
    • Bare Wood
      • Sand with 80 grade paper. Apply first coat reduced 10% with Special Thinner 216. Fill seams, if necessary, with Seam Compound Brown 30.


    At least 2 coats should be applied. Apply an extra stripe coat in areas of high wear such as chines, rudders, sterngear and any leading edges.

    • Thinner - Special Thinner 216
    • Airless Spray - Pressure: 3.44-4.47 bar/50-65 psi (gun pressure); 10-15 psi (pot pressure). Tip Size: 1.8-2.2mm/70-85 thou.

    Coverage: 440.1 sq. ft./gal. by brush

    • Product temperature should be minimum 10°C/50°F and maximum 29°C/85°F.
    • Ambient temperature should be minimum 10°C/50°F and maximum 35°C/95°F.
    • Substrate temperature should be minimum 10°C/50°F and maximum 35°C/95°F

    Dry Times

    • 50°F
      • Touch Dry: 3 hrs
      • Immersion: 16 hrs
    • 75°F
      • Touch Dry: 2 hrs
      • Immersion: 16 hrs
    • 95°F
      • Touch Dry: 1 hrs
      • Immersion: 16 hrs
