Interlux Micron Extra w/ Biolux Ablative Antifouling Paint
Interlux is known for its high-quality antifouling paints made with superior products and developed for long-lasting results in all types of waters. Interlux Micron Extra is a multi-season bottom paint that allows for repeated hauling, launching and relaunching of your boat with no need to repaint. Made with Biolux technology, which helps control slime and algae build-up. Its controlled polish finish helps prevent paint build up and gets smoother over time helping to increase fuel efficiency and overall performance of the vessel.
Interlux Micron Extra is suitable for all types of boats. It can be applied to fiberglass, wood, and properly-primed metal but is not recommended for aluminum boat bottoms. It is available in seven popular colors. Two to three coats are recommended for complete coverage. When applied Interlux Micron Extra antifouling paint dries with a matte finish.

How to Apply Interlux Micron Extra Ablative Antifouling Paint
Sand surface and apply Interlux Micron Extra with Biolux over hard antifouling paint. Soft antifouling paints must be removed or overcoated with Primocon prior to an application of Micron Extra. Micron Extra with Biolux should be thinned only as needed and not exceed 10% per volume. Apply Micron Extra in temperatures above 50°F. Should hull or air temperature fall below 50°F during the 16 hour dry-time, extend dry-time to 36 hours minimum.

Surface Preparation
Previously Painted Surfaces
- In Good Condition: Remove loose paint by sanding with 80 grade paper. Remove sanding residue.
- In Poor Condition: Remove antifouling paint in poor condition with Interstrip Semi-Paste 299E.
Bare Fiberglass
- It is very important that bare fiberglass be properly prepared to prevent delamination of the antifouling paint. Begin by scrubbing the surface thoroughly with a stiff brush using soap and water to remove loose dirt and contamination.
- Flush with fresh water to remove the soap residue and allow to dry.
- Remove mold release wax using one of the following Interlux products: Fiberglass Surface Prep or Fiberglass Solvent Wash 202.
- Fill any surface imperfections with Interlux Watertite following the label instructions.
- After the surface has been properly cleaned, follow one of the application systems below.
Fiberglass No Sand System
- Clean the surface following the preparation procedure above.
- Apply one coat of InterProtect 2000E or Fiberglass No-Sand Primer following the label instructions for applying the primer and overcoating with antifouling paint.
Fiberglass Sanding System
- Clean the surface following the preparation procedure above.
- Sand entire surface well with 80 grade paper until flat matte finish is obtained.
- Remove sanding residue.
Blister Prevention System
- Apply the InterProtect system for the prevention of blisters.
Bare Wood
- Sand with 80 grade paper.
- Apply first coat reduced 10% with Special Thinner 216.
- Fill seams, if necessary, with Seam Compound Brown 30.
Application
- Apply at least 2 coats
- Apply an extra stripe coat in areas of high wear such as chines, rudders, sterngear and any leading edges
